Eight Weeks On The Lido Deck, And What Opens South Of It

Eight Weeks On The Lido Deck, And What Opens South Of It

Last August on Via Oporto, the loudest thing after dinner was usually a boat engine idling back to its slip. This August, there is a blue piano on the Lido Deck, a rotating cast of musicians every Saturday and Sunday from 4:30 to 6:30, and a construction fence three blocks south on Coast Highway that is coming down in September.

For anyone who lives on the Peninsula, Lido Isle, or the Newport Heights side of PCH, that combination is the story of the next eight weeks. The concerts and the openings are not two separate calendars. They are one walkable spine, and the spine is unusually busy right now.

The rhythm the village is running on

Lido Marina Village has stacked three overlapping live-music slots into a single week, which is why the deck feels different at four o'clock on a Saturday than it did a year ago.

When What Where
Thu / Sat / Sun, 12–3pm Local acoustic sets, waterside Lido Deck
Wednesdays, 5–7pm Wind Down live music, shops open until 7 Lido Deck / Via Oporto
Every Sat & Sun in August, 4:30–6:30pm City of Hope Summer Concert Series, curated by local musicians around the blue "Hope" piano Lido Deck

The City of Hope run is the piece with an expiration date. It ends when August does, and the City of Hope Ambassadors onsite adding colorful tags to the Wishing Trees are only there for those eight weekend afternoons. If you have been meaning to walk the village between four and six on a Saturday, this is the month.

Le Labo's window closes with the concerts

One block off the deck, at Le Labo's Via Lido storefront, a fragrance program is running on the same clock as the concerts. Through September, Le Labo is offering discovery sizes of all 19 City Exclusives at its Lido Marina Village lab, a collection typically available only in their respective cities around the world, with full-size bottles of each fragrance available beginning September 1.

The retail context matters here. City Exclusives are not a promotional line. They are the reason people fly to Tokyo or Paris carrying an empty suitcase. Having all nineteen sitting on a counter three minutes from Newport Boulevard, for a defined window, is a small logistical accident worth using.

What opens between the Deck and Mariners' Mile

Walk south from the village along West Coast Highway and the next mile of frontage is where the fall opening wave lands. Every address below sits within a fifteen-minute walk of the Lido Deck.

3300 Newport Blvd — Kaiya, already open

Inside Lido House, a new Japanese restaurant is set to arrive as Kaiya prepares to debut inside the Lido House at 3300 Newport Blvd, with the intimate, 12-seat concept opening within the boutique hotel in July. The project involves executive chef partner Riley Huddleston, known for his work at The Mayor's Table, the signature restaurant in Lido House, and chef Brian Kim. Twelve seats is the operative number. Book the counter now if you want it in October.

2800 W Coast Hwy — Flecha Cantina, opening September

Flecha Cantina is preparing to open a new waterfront restaurant at 2800 West Coast Hwy, introducing the brand's signature blend of elevated Mexican cuisine, handcrafted cocktails, and hospitality to the corridor, with a September opening that adds to existing California locations in Huntington Beach, Las Vegas, and San Diego. The concept is co-owned by actor Mark Wahlberg and was created in partnership with hospitality veteran Randy Sharpe. For residents, the practical read is that a national concept with proven weekend-brunch and happy-hour programs is landing on the harbor side of Coast Highway in about four weeks.

2607 W Coast Hwy — The Nice Guy, in the pipeline

The h.wood Group's new restaurant and bar will be located at 2607 West Coast Highway on Newport Beach's waterfront, marking the group's Orange County debut with The Nice Guy. The West Hollywood original is a reservation problem. Its arrival changes the shape of a Newport Friday night for anyone who has been driving north for that kind of room.

2510 W Coast Hwy — Uchi, coming behind the fence

Further down the Mile, Chef Tyson Cole is bringing Uchi to Newport Beach at 2510 West Coast Highway, the brand's eighth location and its first in Orange County, housed in a mixed-use building being constructed just steps from Newport Bay and Lido Isle, amongst new residential units. The restaurant will seat 175 guests, including bar seating. This is the address to watch as construction wraps. The building's residential units above are part of a broader pattern along the corridor, which is worth understanding if you own property nearby.

800 W Coast Hwy — Nēsos, a quieter opening

Nēsos, a Greek restaurant inspired by the villages of southern Greece, is set to open at 800 W Coast Hwy, moving into the former home of Pizzeria Mozza, according to a recent liquor license submission. The menu is rooted in traditional Greek recipes with ingredients sourced from Hellenic farms and artisan producers. The Mozza space had been dark long enough that a lot of drivers on PCH stopped noticing it. Worth noticing again.

Five addresses. One highway. All of them inside the same two-mile walk that starts at the blue piano on the Lido Deck.

The retail layer, not just the restaurants

The village keeps adding smaller tenants that shape what the middle of a Saturday actually feels like, not just dinner. La La Land Kind Cafe at Lido Marina Village brings its signature blend of feel-good messaging and beautifully designed coffee experiences to the waterfront setting.

Two doors away, a different kind of tenant is doing the work of keeping the block from settling into a fixed mix. At Lido Marina Village, The Shore is a collaborative pop-up concept on Via Lido that serves as a rotating space for small businesses, brand activations, and curated experiences, designed to feel dynamic and ever-changing. That rotation is the point. Expect the tenant mix on Via Lido to look different in October than it does in July.

A resident's weekend, in order

If you already live here, the useful thing is a sequence, not a list. One version that uses everything above without doubling back on itself:

  1. Saturday, 11am. Coffee at La La Land, then Le Labo before the discovery flight runs out of any single City Exclusive.
  2. Saturday, 1pm. Lunch on Via Oporto with the noon-to-three acoustic set on the deck.
  3. Saturday, 4:30pm. Back to the Lido Deck for the City of Hope concert. Bring people who have not been down here since spring.
  4. Saturday, 8pm. Dinner south on Coast Highway. Nēsos if you want quiet, Flecha Cantina once it opens if you want the room to be loud.
  5. Sunday, 10am. Walk the Mariners' Mile side of the harbor, note the Uchi construction at 2510, and end the loop at the Lido docks.

Two things about that sequence are worth flagging. First, everything on it is inside a fifteen-minute walk of the same parking structure. Second, the same sequence a year ago would have required a drive to Costa Mesa or Corona del Mar for at least one meal.

Why this window is different

The concerts, the fragrance release, and the September openings share a calendar because they share a landlord logic. The village programming is designed to hold weekend foot traffic on the deck through the last warm weekends, and the Coast Highway operators are opening into that traffic rather than trying to build their own. Kaiya opened in July. Flecha opens in September. The village concerts bridge them. The Le Labo window closes the gap.

For a homeowner on Lido Isle or the Peninsula, the practical read is straightforward. The block is not going quiet after Labor Day the way it used to. The programming has been stretched into September on purpose, and the new tenants south of the deck are opening into that extended season rather than waiting for spring.

Walk it once in the next two weekends while the piano is still on the deck. The map will look different by October.
